Lebanon elections 2022, a failure in leadership

The final results are not out yet.

However, one could say that if we count the votes of all those in opposition, they represent a clear majority.

Sadly, this will not translate in the parliament.

Imagine the Lebanese Forces and the Kataeb together with other 14th of March forces such as Hariri and Joumblatt and independents such as Mouawad and Souaid unified in common electoral lists with thinkers like Frangieh and Kassir in the background.

Imagine all the forces that came out of the so-called revolution united in common electoral lists. Imagine these lists took the advice of politically savvy and experienced opposition opinion leaders.

Why did this not happen?

Each of these opposition factions are fractured internally.

The 14th of March opposition are unified in most strategic goals. The so-called revolutionaries are not split along the lines Left and Right divides. Their ideological or political divide is on minor secondary tactical aims.

The truth is that both opposition factions were competing for gains. Sad but true.

In my modest opinion, all of them failed, they are not the leaders Lebanon needs these days.

Let's hope they witness an awakening; that is the only salvation for Lebanon.
